Every screenshot,
recalled on demand.
Rekall reads, understands, and indexes the screenshots in your Photos library so you can find any of them by what's in them — a WiFi password, a receipt total, a boarding pass. Everything runs on your iPhone. There is no account, no Rekall server, and no data collection.
Frequently asked
Do my screenshots leave my phone?
No. Text recognition, classification, and search all run on your device using Apple's Vision and on-device Foundation Models. Rekall has no server to send anything to. If you're signed in to iCloud, the index — extracted text, titles, tags, collections — syncs to your own private iCloud database so it follows you to a new phone. The images themselves stay in your Photos library.
What's free, and what needs Pro?
Free: your 50 most recent screenshots, fully indexed and searchable, with collections and pinning. Rekall Pro removes the limit and adds AI-ranked search, Smart Collections, flight tracking on the Lock Screen, and export. Pro is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial on the annual plan.
Rekall isn't finding a screenshot I know I have.
Check three things. Photos access must be set to Full Access (Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Rekall); with Limited access Rekall only sees the photos you picked. The screenshot must be inside your free allowance, or you need Pro. And indexing pauses in Low Power Mode — plug in or switch it off and pull down on the Library to refresh.
Why don't I see AI titles or Smart Collections?
Those use Apple Intelligence, which needs a supported device with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings. On other devices Rekall still reads and indexes every screenshot and search still works — you just get keyword classification instead of the model's.
How do I move everything to a new phone?
Sign in to the same iCloud account and install Rekall; the index syncs down on its own. Your iPhone's normal iCloud Backup also includes Rekall's data, so restoring from backup brings it across too.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us: open the iOS Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → Rekall. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your current period runs to its end and nothing is deleted.
I paid before and reinstalled — how do I get Pro back?
Open Settings → Restore Purchases in Rekall, or the Restore link on the upgrade screen. Because Rekall has no account, your subscription is tied to your Apple Account.
How do I erase what Rekall has indexed?
Settings → Erase all Rekall data removes the local index and, if sync is on, the copy in your iCloud. Deleting the app does the same for the local copy. Your screenshots in Photos are never touched.
Still stuck?
Email [email protected] with your iPhone model and iOS version and we'll help. Please don't send screenshots — we can't access them, and you shouldn't need to share them.
